Who we are

We’re a bunch of ordinary people who have been rescued by an extraordinary God. Though we don’t deserve it, we know the living God and are known by him – a relationship that changes everything! And it’s all because of Jesus – who he is and what he’s done.

At Salt we’re really keen to see more and more people from the Hastings to the Camden Haven and beyond come to know God through Jesus as we do.

Our Church

Salt Community Church is one of a group of Christian churches that form the FIEC Network (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches).

We’re an independent evangelical church. ‘Evangelical’ just means we take the Bible seriously, we believe it’s the word of God. We believe God reveals himself by His Spirit through His Word, so we are committed to clear, faithful teaching from the Bible week after week.

Our Sunday gatherings are the highlight of our life together. The whole church comes as one to hear what God is saying to us through the Bible. It’s a time of encouragement and challenge that always leads to joyful worship and a desire to serve God more wholeheartedly.

We also love catching up over coffee, building real friendships, and encouraging one another to live lives that truly honour Jesus — the One who died for us.

Of course, we’re not immune to the realities of life. We have seasons of rejoicing and seasons of hurt, disappointment, and struggle, just like everyone else.

But here’s what sets us apart: As Christians, we all share the most profound experience imaginable. Through Jesus’ death on the cross in our place, God has completely forgiven us of all our failings. This forgiveness sets us free to live new lives of love, hope, and purpose — and compels us to share this good news with the people around us.
